ENGRAVING DAYS | COMMISSIONS

ENGRAVING DAYS.

in my own little world engraving commissions.

A BUCKET FULL OF ICE

A BUCKET FULL OF ICE!

so we all have been doing the ice bucket challenge to raise awareness for motor neurone disease. it not only worked because of raising so much money but it has educated me on what the disease is i had only heard of the name without knowing what it actually was.

if you would like to donate text ICED55 £5 to donate five pounds

think i might go for this look more often! ..hmm maybe not

while i havent been throwing freezing water over my head ive been spending alot of time engraving glass commissions. i was happy to be asked to do glasses totally different to the ones id made before so i get to try out doing different styles. i got asked to do some wine glasses which were given to a couple on saturday night as a 40th wedding anniversary present by one of my good friends rosie. the glasses had mostly text on with there names, anniversary and a bug design up the side. rosie is a maker herself so she drew a design she wanted on the glass and i engraved it for her.

i also got asked to do some glasses for a wedding. i love weddings! the wedding hasnt been yet though so i will save the photos until afterwards just incase by some amazing coincidence the bride and groom to be find this blog and see the glasses!

i was also asked if i could gift wrap the glasses and add some little details to give it a special feel.

i looked about to see what i could find, i have bags and bags of horded materials i am going to find a use for some day i promise! anyway i came across a bunch of flowers i bought for my mum that i had left to dry out ..PERFECT!

i really liked how they turned out so decided to offer gift wrapping as a £3 extra choice.
the gift wrapping will be available to pick up only i dont think the flowers would be very happy with being shut away in a box.

to order glasses email j-langford1@live.co.uk

this week also meant PGCE application deadline!
i found it hard to write a personal statement about teaching as i had written so many before about myself as an artist. i sat and went for it and just tried to write exactly why teaching interests me and try and show me as a person through it. i havent heard anything back yet but the deadline was only yesterday. i will let you known when i find out if they would like me on the course or not!

right im going to say bye for now!

GLASS ENGRAVING | LOTR COMMISSON

COMMISSIONED CUSTOMISED GLASSES.

i have some lovely people around me which help me by passing on the word about my work.
on wednesday a lady ordered a pint glass for her partner for there anniverary today.

she asked if i could put as much map on as i could.

i fiddled about with composition and engraved the middle earth logo on one side as that is an important aspect of the map and engraved part of the middle of the map which included different parts of the map i thought would work well engraved, like the mountains and trees, on the other side of the glass.

i hope they both love it as much as i love doing it!

email j-langford1@live.co.uk to order.
i have engraved wine glasses, shot glasses, jars, tumblers and as you can see pint glasses so im up for any type of glass just ask!

i have done/will be doing more commissoned glasses in the next few days so i will be posting photos of course!

GLASS ENGRAVING | LORD OF THE RINGS INSPIRED WINE GLASSES

GLASS ENGRAVING

so engraving the glasses was more of a faff on than i expected. more because im slightly daft and didnt think of charging the dremel before i started! it meant last tuesday when i sat down all ready with my laptop and the tele on, all comfy on my mum and dads bed ready for a long good go at the glasses the charge only lasted about 1/10 of the way through one glass.

i tried to leave it to charge for half an hour or so and have another go but it died so quickly i decided the better option was to give up and have a go on the wednesday!

okay once i had well and truley charged the dremel for hours it was crazy, my hand went numb and felt like it was going to drop off! i managed to control the dremel and got going.

okay so i admit i completely forgot i needed to wear a mask until about half way through my first glass it will be sergically attached from now on dont worry!

MIDDLE EARTH.

i managed to get alot more done (i will keep it under wraps until after my sisters birthday of course)
but yes it was another overnight charge for the dremel and so on and so on.

for some reason whenever theres a day when im going to get any sort of white mess on me (normally clay) i some how gravitate to black clothes ..okay people who know me know i do have a mostly black wardrobe but fully plain black clothing? it was just asking to be messed up!
 SODS LAW!

my mum and dads bed is so comfy!

cant wait to give sarah the glasses!! i get to give her them on saturday when we go to leeds to see her and her boyfriend dave. we are also going to stuff our faces in reds. ive never been before but by the sounds of the menu i cant wait to eat my own body weight in food!

 #HASHTAGS.

i didnt get what hashtags were for at first i thought they were just a bit of extra detail which is kind of what many people use them for and since ive learnt they help people find new peoples profiles. i now use them myself to have a big motivational/inspiring mooch looking at other artists but i always forget to do them myself. i always wonder if people would find it annoying if i did it so it makes me not sure but considering i use them for the reason i would want others to use them for to find me maybe i should give it a go!
#hmmmm

peace out!

WEEKEND | FAMILY

PHOTOGRAPH.

when i get properly dressed (not very often) and have extra time (also not very often!) i take a photograph of my outfit so i can draw it sometime.

it was abit harder today than unsual because the sun was bleeming right into my already squinty eyes!

i ended up just laughing in half the photos.
heres the outtakes from the otherwise very serious looking photos...

trying my hardest to keep my eyes open instead i look drunk

okay it hurts i give up
me picturing my lurvely squint eyes in the photographs
sun go awayyy
arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

FAMILY + FRIENDS TIME.

i had a few days away from the glass engraver this weekend to have some family and friend time.
we got to look after ruby my little cousin. shes just learnt to walk and is saying and copying every word under the sun! she now knows my name and had me running about after the cat while she shouted 'find it! find it! cat meoww' so cute!

i love feeding animals. the male goat wasnt the nicest mind shuving the little kids out the way to get at my food ..so i ran and quickly feed the babies before the dude could catch up!

NAME GAME.

okay me and my sister meg have a really random game we always play when where sat at a craft fair or in a traffic jam or something and it totally entertains us! we see people we dont know and decide what there name is and random details about there life. it ends up being hilarious because we manage to think up names that fit the person so well. some people (or probably all) are probably thinking what the hell but beleive me its funny and totally entertaining!

so because we play the name game we randomly call everything names including animals...

JERRY.
GEOFF.
FREDA.
BESSIE.
CHANTELLE.
CRAZY CHANTELLE!

BIG KID.

i love how having a little girl with you makes it socially exceptable (ish) to play!
i think i was enjoying it even more than the kids there!

TRACTOR.

i really like brightly painted metal things im not really sure why! especially when it flakes off and goes rusty!
so i was my strange arty freaky self and took some photos.

peace outtt
