The other final year ‘BA Applied Arts for Enterprise’ students and I at Cleveland College of Art and Design were given 8 weeks in which to create an ‘Artists book’ relating to our Dissertation research.
A book is used to transmit or conserve information, spread ideas or express narrative. A contemporary ‘Artists book’ is a book which is not bound or limited to the physical structure or materials of a traditional book form. Rather, it is an exploration of ideas, expression or narrative that relates to the traditional book as concept. Therefore the possibilities of materials used, the structure, the form or the way in which people interact with the ‘Artists book’ are endless.
